Why Halsey Left the 2022 Grammys Early

The singer shared on Instagram that they were "not feeling super well" due to a recent surgery.

Yesterday marked the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, a night filled with stellar performances and heartfelt speeches. Yet, Halsey's presence was noticeably brief, and they have since revealed the reason for their early departure from the festivities. The acclaimed singer, who was in the running for the Best Alternative Album award for their album 'If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power', took to Instagram Stories after gracing the red carpet to share, "Not feeling super well so I left early,". They also added, "Had to see BTS tho ? going to get pasta and sleep. Thanks for everything luv u all ?." This revelation came on the heels of an Instagram post shared a day earlier where they disclosed they had recently undergone surgery. In the caption of the photo, they wrote, "The last time I attended the Grammys was 2017 and it was 3 days after I had my first Endometriosis surgery,". They continued, "I walked the carpet with my stitches still in. As luck would have it, I'm attending tomorrow for the first time in years and I had surgery again (you guessed it) 3 days ago."

Halsey, the singer famous for their hit "Without Me," has always been forthright about their health struggles, particularly concerning their endometriosis. This condition is characterized by tissue resembling the lining of the uterus growing outside of it, on other organs within the body. It can lead to fatigue, pain, and fertility issues among other symptoms, affecting approximately 200 million people globally. Halsey has previously expressed that managing this disease can be physically painful and mentally draining. In a 2016 Twitter post, they sent a supportive message to fans also suffering from endometriosis, stating "I know how excruciatingly painful it can be and how discouraging the disease can be." They added that despite having endo, they have still managed to live an unpredictable, wild, and extraordinary life, assuring their fans, "I'm here for you."

Halsey revealed they were looking forward to the Grammys, despite not feeling entirely up to par. In an update regarding their health on Instagram, they voiced that they were in recovery but excited about attending the event. They wrote, "Only posting this to say, if you see me be gentle lol I'm fragile," further adding, "Fragile but excited."

It's commendable that Halsey chose to prioritize their well-being and heed their body's signals, even if it meant leaving a highly anticipated event like the Grammys early. We hope the singer was able to rest as needed and is on the path to better health.
