Peloton fitness guru, Cody Rigsby, recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19. This follows his 'Dancing With the Stars' partner, Cheryl Burke's announcement that she also contracted the virus despite full vaccination.
In a video update on Instagram, Rigsby compared his current symptoms, which include a cough and congestion, to when he first contracted the virus before vaccination. He stated that his symptoms are milder this time around, crediting the vaccine for this major difference in his experience.
Rigsby, aged 34, added that his future on 'Dancing With the Stars' is still uncertain as they work out how to proceed. However, he cheerfully mentioned that he plans on enjoying various delicious cuisines as he hasn't lost his sense of taste, unlike many other COVID-19 patients.
Although COVID-19 vaccines provide substantial protection against the virus, breakthrough infections can still occur. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fully vaccinated individuals who contract the virus usually experience less severe symptoms or may even be asymptomatic.
The upcoming third week of 'Dancing With The Stars' poses questions on how the competition will cope with Burke and Rigsby's situation. In the previous week, judges based their scoring on a pre-recorded rehearsal from the pair. Here's hoping Burke and Rigsby make a fast recovery.
While this story was accurate at press time, it's crucial to stay updated on the evolving COVID-19 situation through reliable sources such as the CDC, WHO, and local health departments.
