'Selling Sunset' star Christine Quinn Revealed She Almost Died During Labor

The Netflix star, who welcomed her first child in May, added that she's learned not to take a single moment for granted.

Christine Quinn, the star of Netflix's 'Selling Sunset', and her husband Christian Richard greeted their firstborn child together in May. However, as the celebrity revealed during a recent conversation with the British television show, This Morning, both she and her newborn son, Christian Georges Dumontet, narrowly escaped death during childbirth. The harrowing event involved an emergency c-section.

"I was on the brink of death, as was my baby," Quinn recounted. "We were both just about making it through. It's instilled in me a profound sense of gratitude for life and every moment it offers."

Christine Quinn, renowned for her straightforward demeanor on Selling Sunset, opened up about a life-threatening incident during childbirth. Speaking on This Morning, she admitted that the terrifying experience brought out her vulnerability, saying, "I've come to understand how valuable time is. At 33, I never envisioned facing death so closely."

In the upcoming season of Selling Sunset, viewers will witness a side of Christine they're not accustomed to. She shared, "I've always strived to be the strong one, but sharing my story felt like the authentic thing to do. It was honestly liberating."

The ordeal shifted her perspective drastically, prompting her to concentrate more on her loved ones and less on trivial issues. Talking about her infant son, Christian, on This Morning, she humorously mentioned, "I didn't think it was possible to love someone more than self, until him!"

She further added, "He's my world... Everything I do is for him. I aspire to be an exemplary person, mother, and role model for him. Truly, becoming a mother has transformed me for the better."

Recounting her harrowing childbirth experience, Christine Quinn of 'Selling Sunset' fame revealed on Instagram in July that she and her newborn son, Christian, had a near-death experience. She described the ordeal as "one of the most challenging things" she's ever done, choosing to publicly open up about it despite typically maintaining a composed public image. The trauma is still fresh for her and she admits to feeling hopeless and terrified even today. In her post, she reveals that Christian's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, making their survival quite miraculous.

"In a sudden turn of events that didn't even allow surgeons to tally their tools before closing my wounds, I was on the verge of death. My gratitude is boundless for the expert medical team who ensured my survival and that of my newborn, immediately scanning me post-surgery to confirm no instruments were left inside," Quinn expounded on her social media profile. She added, "Every day, I express my profound thanks to the Divine for the blessings showered upon me and my miracle baby."

She further stresses on the transience of life, urging everyone to let go of grudges because they are a futile barrier to absolute joy. "Seize opportunities when they present themselves, commit wholly without regret. Life's brevity doesn't warrant unhappiness," she sagely advises.
